Mujer alemana se une a huelga de hambre en favor de los presos sunnís en Irán

Una mujer alemana ha renunciado a los alimentos en apoyo a los presos en huelga de hambre en la prisión de Rajai Shahr, Irán.

Los presos iniciaron una huelga de hambre el martes 2 de agosto en protesta después de que más de 20 predicadores sunnís fueran ejecutados en la prisión a primera hora de la mañana.

HUNGER STRIKE: German woman joins Hunger striking Sunni prisoners, Iran

A German woman has given up food in a show of support for hunger striking prisoners in Rajai Shahr prison, Iran.

The prisoners began their hunger strike on Tuesday 2 August in protest after more than 20 Sunni preachers were executed in the prison earlier that morning.

German-born ‘Abida’, 21, who asked us not to use her real name to protect her identity, said she started her hunger strike after reading that the prisoners had been transferred and their executions were imminent.

“I’ve never done something like this in my entire life,” she said.

“But I have also never imagined in my entire life that there would be a mass execution killing more than 20 Sunni preachers at once.

“I’m on hunger strike to try to raise awareness and to try to stop the executions of any prisoners who may still be alive.

“I want them to know that they are not alone. I stand in solidarity with them.

“This is my fourth day on hunger strike. I feel okay if I stay in one position, but if I move I start feeling dizzy.”

Abida, who lives near Frankfurt, said that she wants to world to know that “there are people being held in prison without a crime, and innocent people are being executed for their beliefs.”

“They were executed in silence,” she said, “When their families arrived at the prison to say their final goodbye, they were told: “You’re too late. We’ve already executed them.” They were not even allowed to see the corpses.

Abida said she has a message for the Iranian authorities.

“I want Iran to know that the world is watching,” she said.

“I am in Germany and I’ve followed every detail about this injustice.

“Iran, I am the voice of those prisoners who were executed and those still imprisoned. I will never stay silent about it.”

She also had a message for readers around the world:

“I read a letter from the prisoners published a few months ago titled, ‘A last cry for help’. But did anyone help them?

“We have failed them. If we don’t stand up now, when will we ever stand up?

“If a mass execution of innocents doesn’t shake your hearts then what will?! Do we need more executions before we finally stand up and take action?

“I beg all readers to do whatever they can to raise awareness, protest, make Dua', in support of these prisoners.”
