The obedience and the obligation of following the Sunnah of our beloved Prophet
The Saheeh al Bukhaaree is a great book that contains the Sunnah of our beloved Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم), there is no doubt after the death of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم until today there is a great need to refer back to the Quraan and the Sunnah, because there are different groups that go against the Sunnah different groups that rejects the Sunnah, and different groups within Islam and they corrupt the Islam from within by belittling the Sunnah and the people of the Sunnah here we have in the verse
Allaah says:
And let those who oppose the Messengers (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) commandment (i.e. his Sunnah – legal ways, orders, acts of worship, statements) (among the sects) beware) - Sura Nur (24:63)
It is not something simple, oh it is only Sunnah, people having this understanding that it is only Sunnah it is not something important!
Allaah said: Let the people be warned!
And let those who oppose the Messengers (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) commandment (i.e. his Sunnah – legal ways, orders, acts of worship, statements. Sura Nur (24:63)
Imaam Hafidh Ibn Katheer Rahimahullaah in his Tafseer of the above ayah
Meaning that Allaah tabaraka wa ta’ala is talking about the orders of the Prophet, but does it meaning that he said, that you must do, No!
Ibn Katheer said:
What is meant by this Ayah is, Allaah Tabarakta wa ta’ala only referring to the command of the Prophet? No it is said:
That this is the way of The Prophet and the methodology of the Prophet Sal صلى الله عليه وسلم), it is the character of the Prophet, it is the Sunnah of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم), and it is the legislation of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم).
Then he says
Therefore, you weight the statements and the actions with that of the Prophet Any one that addresses you anyone that informs you, you weight their statements, with that of the Prophet
Whatever is in conformity to the statements and action of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلمis accepted.
That which goes against the statements of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم is rejected
It is rejected upon that person that said it, and that person did it, whoever he maybe. That is something extremely important, important for those who reject the Sunnah and important for those who place the statement of man over, the actions and the statement of the Prophet
Regarding the obedience in following the Sunnah of the Prophet
Allaah says in this tremendous ayah:
فَلَا وَرَبِّكَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ حَتَّىٰ يُحَكِّمُوكَ فِيمَا شَجَرَ بَيْنَهُمْ ثُمَّ لَا يَجِدُوا۟ فِىٓ أَنفُسِهِمْ حَرَجًۭا مِّمَّا قَضَيْتَ وَيُسَلِّمُوا۟ تَسْلِيمًۭا
But no, by your Lord, they can have no Faith, until they make you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) judge in all disputes between them, and find in themselves no resistance against your decisions, and accept (them) with full submission - Surat An-Nisa(4:65)
Allah Tabarakta wa ta’ala swore by Himself!
That to make the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم while he is alive and referring back to his Sunnah after his death
Then: judge in all disputes between them, and find in themselves no resistance against your decisions and they find no difficulty no hesitance within themselves and they submit whole heartily!
Ibn Qayyim Rahimahullaah said in E’ilamul Muqa’een pertaining to this verse in Surat An-Nisa :
Allaah Azza wa Jal has sworn by Himself, negating faith from the servants until they make the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلمa judged in everything that they dispute in, that which is clear and that which is unclear
And Allaah did not suffices by mentioning that they have to make the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم a judge , but they also had to remove any tightness and uneasiness , because of the ruling of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم
Allah also did not suffice with that, but they must submit whole heartily and they must follow.
This was the statement of Ibn Qayyim Rahimahullaah pertaining to that particular verse and there are many more text that can be mentioned with regards to the obedience and the obligation of following the Sunnah of our beloved Prophet
