London Guantánamo CampaignHistory in the Making! (Vigil to mark 14 years of Guantánamo Bay)
HISTORY in the making...
How will HISTORY remember Barack Obama?
In January 2009, Barack Obama told the world the prison camp at Guantánamo Bay would close within ONE YEAR. On 11 January 2016, the US-run concentration camp will have been open for 14 YEARS.
107 prisoners remain almost ALL without charge. Only 3 were captured by the US military.
Closing Guantánamo was a key promise of Obama’s 2008 presidential election campaign. Now, he has LESS than ONE YEAR to close Guantánamo and end indefinite detention. Can he do it?
How will HISTORY remember you?
This is YOUR last opportunity to take action and send a strong message to President Barack Obama.
The London Guantánamo Campaign invites you on
Monday 11 January 2016 to join us for HISTORY in the making
a candlelight vigil – please bring your pots & pans & whistles to add some noise!
Outside: the US Embassy, Grosvenor Square, W1A (nearest underground: Bond Street/Marble March)
At 6-8pm
