Un converso suní de la minoría árabe de Irán ahwazí, fue golpeado y llevado a a lugar desconocido por las fuerzas de seguridad iraníes después de su detención la semana pasada.

De 27 años de edad Amin Mogheinemi fue golpeado delante de su familia por parte de agentes del Ministerio de Inteligencia que allanaron su casa en Malkiya Allyeh en Ahwaz el 23 de octubre de 2014, antes de ser llevado a un lugar desconocido.

Según testigos presenciales, los agentes del Ministerio de Inteligencia de la entraron a la fuerza en la casa de Amin, registrando violentamente sus pertenencias. Luego con los ojos vendados y esposado, fue sometido a una brutal paliza por parte de los agentes en presencia de su familia. Tras lo cual fue llevado a un paradero desconocido.

La familia Mogheinemi fue informada por personas cercanas al Ministerio de Inteligencia. que la razón de su detención se debió a su conversión del chiísmo  al Islam sunni.

Como la mayoría de las minorías étnicas que viven en Irán, la minoría árabe ahwazí, que habitan en su mayoría en el suroeste, han sufrido históricamente discriminación económica, política y cultural por el gobierno iraní.

Numerosos hombres de la minoría árabe de Irán ahwazí han sido detenidos por las fuerzas de seguridad iraníes después de convertirse al Islam sunni.

A Sunni convert from Iran's Ahwazi Arab minority was beaten and taken to an unknown location by Iranian security forces after his arrest last week.

27-year old Amin Mogheinemi was beaten in front of his family by agents from the Ministry of Intelligence who raided his home in Malkiya Allyeh in Ahwaz on 23 October 2014, before being taken to an unknown location.

According to eyewitnesses, officers from the Ministry of Intelligence forcefully entered Amin's home and violently searched his belongings. He was then blindfolded and handcuffed, before being subjected to a brutal beating by the officers in front of his family. He was then taken to an unknown location.

The Mogheinemi family was informed by individuals close to the Ministry of Intelligence that the reason behind his arrest was due to his conversion to from Shi'ism to Sunni Islam.

Like most ethnic minorities living in Iran, the Ahwazi Arab minority, who mostly live in the south-west of Iran, have historically endured economic, political and cultural discrimination from the Iranian government.

Numerous men from Iran's Ahwazi Arab minority have been arrested by Iranian security forces after converting to Sunni Islam.
